Primary Engineer: Time to plant seeds - people versus robots
Primary Engineer asks primary school pupils, 'If you were an engineer, what would you do?'
Amongst thousands of ideas submitted in 2022-23, three pupils in different parts of the South region in England each proposed automation to help plant seeds and increase biodiversity.
Join us to find out about the Primary Engineer competition (leaflet available).
Through meeting final year undergraduate engineering students who were inspired by this concept, to design a robot, you can learn about design projects as part of an engineering degree.
Are people or robots better at planting a mix of seeds on suitable land which is not being farmed? If robots might help people, how can engineers design them appropriately?
